How To Make Chicken Karaage

Karaage means the Japanese deep-fried chicken. It is all the time favorite for everyone. The point of Karaage is to use soy sauce and Japanese Sake. It is juicy and crispy, but very tender at the same time. Karaage is definitely one of the best appetizing menus that everyone loves!

Ingredients (Serve 4)

500g chicken thigh, cut into bite-sized pieces

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons Japanese sake

1 piece garlic, grated

5 tablespoons potato starch

Salt to taste


  1. Rub the chopped chicken thigh with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of Japanese sake, and 1 piece of grated garlic. Leave for 30-60 minutes.
  2. Coat the chicken thighs with 5 tablespoons of potato starch.
  3. Heat the oil at middle in a large skillet (Do not heat over high). Deep-fry the chicken thighs until they are brown.
  4. Take the chicken thighs out to the drain, and serve while it’s hot and juicy.
